The marbles spill from my head and roll upon the floor
I’m aiming for collection but only tumble all the more
It’s a slow-motion spill from which I wont rewind
I can’t erase the fact that I’ve clearly lost my mind

My heart is over-beating as it rolls into a rest
So I plot out a brand new path and plan to perform best
I’m counting every blessing, there’s no audience involved
As I edit all the evidence to appear I have evolved

And will I finish what I began?
Or am I crazy once again?
It’s seething under my skin
A constant itching that never ends

I’m hanging by a thread running down into my spine
It weaves into my back getting knotted all the time
I’ve tried to pluck the strings and find some freedom from the chords
I’m in a game of hangman where there is no winning score

It’s boiling under my bones
The madness never leaves me alone

The joker has stopped jesting and the king has quit the throne
I’ve tossed away too many hearts to find a focus for my own
I‘ll wander through the clubs hoping that I will understand
Maybe it's not in these cards for me to play a winning hand

Or am I crazy once again?
It incubates in my skin
Building pressure that never ends
